Major Definition

Major Definition was established in 2005 with a commitment to the education of hip-hop history, culture and fostering artistic talent through music and dance. "Major Def" continues to encourage students of the dance community to passionately pursue and develop their talents in choreography, freestyle, and performance.

Based out of the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) Major Def promotes awareness of hip-hop culture through competitions and performances. Major Def strives to build confidence, leadership, team unity, and identity among a group of dancers.

Major Def strives to stand as creative inspriation and bring together peopel from different backgrounds to provide not only a unique and fresh performance on stage, but contribute to the growth of the DMV dance community.

Life After Def

In 2023 Timothy "Timmy" and Michelle "Michi" were inspired to reunite alumni of Major Definition to revitalize the feeling they once felt during their time on the team. Through a few short calls and messages Life After Def was born! Performing for the first time in 2023 at CFunk Showcase, the scene was reminded just how unique and special their performances were...

Skipping ahead to 2025, Timmy and Michi reached out yet again for a chance to let Major Def alumni reunite and perform. With assistance from Anton and Billy from years past they were able to bring together even more generations of Major Def to rebuild Life After Def.

Life After Def (LAD) strives to continue the legacy of Major Definition for not only those who have left those days behind, but also those who wish to still pursue their passion for dance or relive the glory days one more time.
